Morning Glory seeds were used in ritual contexts by Aztec and Zapotec peoples of Mexico as 'ololiuqui' — ground and mixed with water to create a visionary brew used by curanderos in healing and divination ceremonies. Documented by Spanish friar Bernardino de Sahagún in the 16th century as one of the most important sacred plants of the Aztec pharmacopeia.
Very limited modern research. Chemically interesting as a natural analog to LSD. No current clinical trials. Historical documentation of traditional Mesoamerican ceremonial use is well-established.
LSA itself is Schedule III in the US. Seeds sold as ornamentals are legal, but extracting LSA for psychedelic use may be illegal. Legal status varies by country and is often a grey area.
